Someone once said, “The past is a foreign country - they do things differently there”… If so, pack your bags, because we’re going on a trip to the EIGHTIES! Witness the birth of the MTV generation and hip-hop culture, relive a thousand lycra-clad gym crazes and behold the invention of a completely new musical format – the Compact Disc! In fact we owe the 80’s a lot more than we give it credit for…. without it we wouldn’t have Madonna or the robot dance or the insane genius that was Kate Bush, and for these facts alone, we have to make a stand for this much maligned decade. So, here’s to the 1980’s, and all who’s musical career prospered from her!

How to party ‘80s style:
In the eighties, socialising was near impossible because of the lack of mobile phones and the Internet. Instead, people usually relied on a combination of careful planning and tightly scheduled public phone use. Lucky for you SingStars, you can simply send your friends a themed e-invite to let them know you’re having a party. EASY, when you know how! ;-)
Organise your own ‘80s party – round up your friends and get them into the ‘80s SingStar groove. Remember, grunge and techno hadn’t been invented yet; it was all synths, shoulder pads and mullets. Ask your older brothers or sisters. Although they might be too embarrassed to come clean…
Also, there is an art to being an ‘80s SingStar. First you have to get the moves right – which means dancing like you don’t have any hips. And when you sing, you’ve gotta hold the mic between your thumb and forefinger, as if it’s got germs on it. Now you’re ready to rock, ‘80s style…
